Hosted by Leigh & Elanor, Damned Scribbling Women wants to decolonize public school English/Lit curriculums and dismantle the patriarchy one mediocre, over-rated book, one dead, misogynist, racist white male author at a time. We want to read the true canon, not these endless lists of required novels written only by white men, and we are sick of having the rare women authored-book being tossed into the mix as performative ‘Diversity’. We want books by, and about, women - particularly BIPOC women - featured in school curriculums; better books than the white sausage-fest, books written by far superior authors. We want actual literature in Lit classes, and we don’t think that’s too much to ask. We want the truth.
